Mechanic

 The Huron County Engineer’s Office will accept applications beginning March 18, 2019, for the full-time position of Mechanic through March 29, 2019. 

Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of mechanical equipment in the county highway department.  Employee performs generally skilled equipment repair work. Responsible for the careful and safe operation of a variety of motorized equipment.  This may require being on call 24 hours a day.  Rate of pay will be $21.51 after a 180-day probationary period.

Qualifications for the position are the completion of secondary education or equivalent and one (1) to two (2) years of experience working as a professional mechanic; or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Applicant must possess a valid State of Ohio Class B CDL or obtained within (6) six months of employment; must maintain insurability under the Engineer’s insurance policy.

Potential candidates must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.

Surveyor

Applicant must possess an Associate Degree in Surveying or related field, 4 years’ experience in surveying.  Professional Survey License preferred.  Potential candidates must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.  Rate of pay dependent on experience.

2019 Seasonal Employment Information

The Huron County Engineer’s Office is accepting applications beginning March 18, 2019  through March 29, 2019 for Seasonal Employment (May through September)

Under the direction of a Supervisor, performs varied types of manual and unskilled laboring work.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • General maintenance of buildings and roads.
  • Pot hole patching
  • Mowing / trimming / brush removal
  • Flagging
  • Litter pick-up

Position requires employee to work in outdoor weather conditions such as sun, heat, wind, and rain. The work physical demands and work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

Minimum Qualifications:  Must be high school graduate.  Possess a valid State of Ohio Driver’s License.

Starting Hourly Rate: $10.00/Hour
