Seasonal Employment

Huron County Engineer's Office Seasonal Employment Opportunity

The Huron County Engineer’s Office is now accepting applications for Seasonal Employment (May through September).

Under the direction of a supervisor, performs varied types of manual and unskilled laboring work.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • General maintenance of buildings and roads.
  • Pot hole patching
  • Mowing / trimming / brush removal
  • Flagging
  • Litter pick-up

Position requires employee to work in outdoor weather conditions such as sun, heat, wind, and rain. The work physical demands and work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

Minimum Qualifications:  Must be a high school graduate.  Must possess a valid State of Ohio Driver’s License.

Highway Worker 2

Huron County Engineer’s Office – Highway Worker 2

 The Huron County Engineer’s Office is accepting applications the full-time position of Highway Worker 2.

Highway Worker 2 will be responsible for maintaining and repairing county highway roads and bridges.  Position involves usually routine work in the operation of vehicles and/or construction equipment.  Responsible for the careful and safe operation of a variety of motorized equipment.  This may require being on call 24 hours a day.  Rate of pay will be $23.47 after a 180 day probationary period.

Qualifications for the position are completion of secondary education or equivalent and one (1) year of experience working in general construction; or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Applicant must possess a valid State of Ohio Class A or B CDL and maintain insurability under the Engineer’s insurance policy.

Potential candidates must be able to pass a DOT drug screen and background check.

Mechanic

Huron County Engineer’s Office – Mechanic

 The Huron County Engineer’s Office is accepting applications for the full-time position of Mechanic.

Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of mechanical equipment in the county highway department.  Employee performs generally skilled equipment repair work. Responsible for the careful and safe operation of a variety of motorized equipment.  This may require being on call 24 hours a day.  Rate of pay will be $26.07 after a 180 day probationary period.

Qualifications for the position are completion of secondary education or equivalent and one (1) to two (2) years of experience working as a professional mechanic; or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Applicant must possess a valid State of Ohio Class A or B CDL and maintain insurability under the Engineer’s insurance policy.
